General Information

Important Health and Safety Information

A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including certain light patterns, flashing lights, or saturated red colors. Exposure to certain patterns or backgrounds on a video monitor, or while playing video games attached to a television set, may induce an epileptic-like seizure.

These conditions may induce previously undetected epileptic symptoms even in persons who have no history of prior seizures or epilepsy. If you, or anyone in your family, have a history of epilepsy or seizures, consult your physician prior to playing.

Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Dizziness
  • Altered vision
  • Eye or muscle twitches
  • Loss of awareness
  • Disorientation
  • Involuntary movement or convulsions

Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above symptoms - children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures.

To reduce the likelihood of a seizure when playing video games:

  • Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible.
  • Play video games on the smallest available television screen.
  • Do not play if you are tired or need sleep.
  • Play in a well-lit room.
  • Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour.

I have purchased and registered a game so why are some levels within the game locked?

Many of our games have levels that are "locked" when you begin to play. This is because they are either more difficult and require the level of proficiency in the game attained by playing through the earlier sections, or because they are meant as rewards for achievements earned in the other sections. They add to the fun!

We have included some examples below:

In Bookworm Adventures, only the Adventure mode can be played when the game is first installed and registered. Once you have completed Book 1 of the Adventure mode, you gain access to the Tome of Knowledge. After completing Book 2, the Mini-Games area is unlocked.

In Zuma, there are some layouts in Gauntlet mode that appear only as "?" because they cannot be played until the game has assessed the player's skill level as advanced enough. The appearance of certain areas of the game as "Locked" does not indicate your game has not been successfully registered.

I purchased one type of download or CD-ROM version, and have other Operating Systems and Consoles. Are the games cross platform compatible?

The short, easy answer to this is no, the games are not cross platform compatible. You may be able to run a Windows version of a game on a Mac, using Virtual PC for example, but we can not guarantee performance.

Which PopCap titles have a color blind mode?
The following PopCap Titles have a color blind mode which can be turned on from Options in the games' Main Menu:
  • AstroPop
  • Atomica
  • Chuzzle
  • Peggle
  • Peggle Nights
  • Zuma's Revenge

Many of our other titles, such as Hammer Heads, Insaniquarium, and Feeding Frenzy (1 & 2) for example, have differently shaped and drawn components such that no colorblind mode was found to be necessary to enjoy them.

We do try to add a colorblind mode to any game where it is feasible to do so, as well as where it is judged that it would be helpful. With the game Zuma, it was believed that the different patterns that adorn the differently colored balls would be sufficient to differentiate them. It may be easier to see these patterns if you try turning off 3D Acceleration in the game's Options menu, which would cause the balls to slide rather than roll.

Most importantly, please feel free as always to download and try our games for their free trials!

Bookworm: Why, when I hit a high score of 2.14 billion, does my score start to go backwards?

Congratulations - you have beaten the game!

The maximum score you can reach on Bookworm is 2.14 billion, because the game doesn't correctly interpret scores above this value. The data structure that holds the score only has so much space, and at 2.14 billion is where the game runs out of possible values. As a result, you'll end up with the score flipping and a large negative number (example -2,147,483,647), when increased beyond the limit.

I can't find the download game I was looking for; where is it?

We regret that the following titles were experiencing issues running on new Operating Systems:

  • Alchemy (Mac only)
  • Bejeweled (Mac only)
  • Big Money (Mac only)
  • Bonnie's Bookstore (Mac only)
  • Atomica (PC only)
  • Mummy Maze (PC/Mac)
  • NingPo MahJong (PC only)
  • Noah's Ark (PC only)
  • Seven Seas (PC/Mac)
  • Tip Top (PC only)

As we want visitors to PopCap.com to have the best experience possible and we are not currently in a position to update these particular games for new Operating Systems, we made the difficult decision to remove the download versions of games from our website. You can still play the online versions of some of titles (where applicable) by clicking the Online Games tab. We apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience caused.

Why do Boost prices change on Facebook while my download version stays the same?
As Bejeweled Blitz is an online experience, it will continue to be updated in many ways over time. One of the changes you may notice is with regard to the costs of the Boosts on Facebook. We are simply continuing to play with these coin values to encourage experimentation with different types of Boosts. We hope you will bear with us through these changes and enjoy trying various combinations!

What is the difference between Gold and Silver coins?

Gold coins are earned during online play, when you are connected to Facebook. They appear on Yellow gems.

Silver coins are earned during offline play. They appear on White gems.

Can I exchange one kind of coin for the other?
Gold and Silver coins cannot be exchanged or combined.

Can other players/friends tell when I am using boosts?

In general, no. Your score is the only detail shared. No one can see what went into achieving the score!

However, you may have noticed a new feature we have added: the ability to post a video replay of your game to your profile! If you post a replay, whatever boosts were used in that game will be visible as icons in the upper right corner of the video, as well as being visible during gameplay when their effects are seen.

No. Your coin balance is visible only to you.

Why can't I see my friends' scores in offline play?

Can I prevent other players in my household from using my coins?

Yes, you can prevent other players from using your Gold coins for online play. When you quit the game, you are automatically logged out of your Facebook account. If you want simply to change players without quitting the game, click the blue Logout button at the bottom of the Main Menu screen. Next, click the Click here to change user text under your profile name. Once the new player has signed in, they can click the Connect with Facebook button to sign into their own Facebook account.

Since Facebook passwords must be entered each time you change users or launch the game, your coin balance can be preserved for your own use. Your Silver coin balance is associated simply with your player profile, which is not password-protected. There is no way to prevent other players on your computer from playing the game under your offline profile and using your coins and boosts.

Did this answer your question?

Do I have separate coin balances for both versions of Bejeweled Blitz (PC & online)?
The coin balance is associated with your Facebook account, not the device on which the game is being played. Your balance updates dynamically during every online gaming session, so you are earning and spending Gold coins from the same account as long as you are playing online. The only separate coin balance you have is the Silver coins earned and available in offline play (PC version only).
