Where are the PopCap Multiplayer Games, such as Piggy Poker and PsychoBabble?

PopCap Multiplayer Games were discontinued in August 2006 for the following reasons:

  • We are limited on the available resources to properly monitor and moderate the Multiplayer games and communities for the safety and enjoyment of all members.
  • Currently, we have no mechanism for a subscription service in the existing systems.
  • PopCap Games is investing in other multi-player and community products, but we don't have a timeline for the public release of these features.

Thanks so much for your support and encouragement for these and all our games. We hope you'll continue to enjoy all our other fun, free games. We're creating new titles all the time, so please keep checking in at www.popcap.com.

I have a problem with the Online game I'm trying to play, what do I do?

Please refer to the Troubleshooting Tips below!

Note: Online games are free games and only playable over the Internet.

In order to play these games, certain components need to be installed and activated on a computer through its browser. Depending on the computer and its browser, this could range from ActiveX components to Java components. If these are not installed through the computer's Internet browser, PopCap Games products that are web-based will not operate properly. Please refer to your computer's help articles or your browser's help articles regarding installing and activating these components.

Other possible issues that could cause blocking of our Online games may be firewalls and virus scanners. We recommend you add our site to your list of "Safe" or "Trusted" Sites for your browser, firewall and virus scanners. Please refer to your software's help articles regarding adding safe/trusted sites.

Here are some options in troubleshooting these issues:

Option 1 - Installing our ActiveX [PopCap Games Loader].

If your Online game does not automatically start, you may not have the proper ActiveX installed on your computer.

Steps on installing our ActiveX:

Upon starting an Online game you will be prompted with a screen that will walk you through step by step on how to install our ActiveX.

If you do not receive the steps to install our ActiveX, you have another option. You should see a yellow drop down box appear near the top of the window asking if you would like to install the PopCap Games Loader, please click this box and select 'Install ActiveX Control'.

Once you have installed our latest ActiveX, your game should begin!

Option 2 - Clear your Internet cache.

Clearing your Internet browser cache/cookies can fix many common issues such as loading or crashing in mid-game. Some browser components may need to have their cache cleared as well. Please select your browser for instructions:

Internet Explorer 7

  1. Launch your Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Click on the Tools menu at the top of the browser.
  3. Click Delete Browsing History.
  4. Click Delete All.
  5. Close your browser and restart Internet Explorer.

Firefox

  1. Choose Tools from the main menu (at the top of the Firefox window).
  2. Click on Options, and the Options window will appear.
  3. Click on the Privacy button on the top left of the window.
  4. Click the Clear your recent history link.
  5. Your computer may take a minute or two to delete everything.
  6. 5. When the action has completed, click the OK button at the bottom.
  7. Now, close all Firefox windows and re-open Firefox again.

NOTE: We recommend that you also clear the Java cache and temporary Internet files.

Many Internet games and tools use Java to operate. Often, clearing the cache for Java will resolve numerous issues. In order to delete the Java cache, which is different from the browser cache, please follow the steps below.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Double click and open Java.
  4. Select the General tab.
  5. Under Temporary Internet Files, select Delete Files.
  6. Make sure all three boxes are selected, and click OK.

Restarting your computer after following the above steps can also help the performance of the game.

Option 3 - Enable Java.

Internet Explorer

  1. Under Tools, select Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Set your security level to Medium or lower.
  4. If you have chosen to customize your security settings for the Internet zone, be sure that under the Java heading, "Java permissions" is not set to "Disable Java." Select one of the three safety levels instead. Also be sure that under the Scripting heading, "Scripting of Java Applets" is set to "Enable" or "Prompt".

Windows XP Users:

If you have a new installation of Windows XP or Internet Explorer 6, you may need to download the Java Virtual Machine from Sun. Please refer to the following link: http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html.

Netscape

  1. In the Menu bar, click Edit.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Check mark Enable Java and Enable JavaScript.

Firefox

  1. Under Tools, select Options.
  2. Select the Content tab.
  3. Check mark Enable Java and Enable JavaScript and select OK.
Option 4 - Security Concerns.

Some antivirus or personal firewall applications incorrectly identify our products as viruses and disrupt or block the software from downloading or registering. Please be assured that products that come from PopCap Games are virus free. We recommend the following options regarding this security software:

Update Your Anti Virus Software.

Please visit your AntiVirus Software website for the latest virus definitions to allow the component to load properly.

Add www.popcap.com to your "Safe" or "Trusted" sites list.

I can't see the game. Where and when does it load?

We recently added a new feature which counts down and lets you know when your game will start. There is a button on the right of the screen that prompts you to download the full or deluxe version of the game; you do not need to click this to play the free, online version. If you can't see the game, scroll down the page a little and start to play!

How does the contest work, exactly?
The Bejeweled Blitz contests are based on a prize-drawing system. Eligibility for each drawing is determined by the team score level you reach during the duration of the contest. Once you reach the team score amount required for the lowest-level prize, you are eligible for the drawing. If you continue to grow your team score, you will become eligible for more valuable prizes. At the end of the contest, we will randomly select a contest winner from the pool of qualified players. We will then look at the team score for the selected player that week and award him/her with the highest-level prize for which they qualified.

Note: The exact rules of the contest may change from week to week. Be sure to look for the "Official Rules" on the game page.

I don't live in the USA, UK, or Canada. Why isn't my country included in the prize contests?
It's not that we don't love you guys... We do! But running these sorts of contests is a far bigger headache and far more expensive than most people realize. We're happy to be offering the contest for those that happen to be eligible, and we really are sorry that some of you are excluded. But the alternative at this point would be for us to have no contest at all for anyone.

In the future we hope to add to the list of countries that are eligible to participate in our contests. But more importantly, we hope we're providing a fun game that everyone enjoys playing. And rather than invest our time and money wrestling with lawyers of every country around the world, we're going to be spending our time and money making our Facebook games better games for everyone in every country!

How do I enter the contest?
A new contest begins every week on Tuesdays when we reset the scores. Once the scores have been reset, all you need to do is meet the minimum scores required for eligibility as per that week's tournament, at which point a signup form will appear in place of your Team Score Widget.

Enter your email address and press the Sign Me Up button. You can also click the Sign Up button located at the top right of the Team Score widget. This will enter you in to a drawing for corresponding prize bracket. Once you have signed up for the contest, you will be automatically entered in future contests, assuming that you meet the scoring eligibility requirements.

Note: Your email address is used to ensure your eligibility and contact you if you win the drawing.
